Hayden Panettiere almost got arrested

Along with a group of professional surfers, actresses, models, and some hippie chick dressed as a mermaid, Hayden Panettiere participated in a traditional paddle-out ceremony in Japan over the weekend to honor the thousands of dolphins killed each year at the notorious killing cove in Taiji which I guess can get you arrested or something. A press release issued by the group said:

In a moving mid-afternoon ritual under grey rainy skies, with local Taiji fishermen and police scrutinizing the group, Rastovich formed the surfers in a circle over the placid waters of the small scenic cove and asked each to say a small prayer of remembrance for their fellow waveriders. An estimated 25,000 dolphins and porpoises each year are slaughtered by Japanese fishermen, either harvested for their meat in annual drives or captured for sale to marine and captive swim parks.

The Taiji fishermen, who defend the kills as part of their traditional fishing culture, had planned to stop the ceremony through force and police arrest. The possibility of a locally led resistance was averted by a dramatic last-minute turnaround. Rastovich was able to broker a meeting with area locals less than 12 hours before the paddle-out crew arrived unannounced at the killing cove. (Source)

Just once in my life I’d like to do my part for marine conservation without being hassled by a locally led resistance. And I know my outward appearance can be pretty intimidating what with the abs and biceps and whatnot, but I’m just there to help the dolphins, not to cause trouble . . . to be truthful though, sometimes I curse my empathetic nature and can-do spirit but, dammit, if not me then who else? With that said, I gotta wrap things up early today. The soup kitchen opens pretty soon (I like to be first in line) and I still have to drop off all these bottles I collected at the annual neighborhood recycling drive.

Milo Buys Hayden A Ring!

They may deny any romantic relationship, but that’s not stopping Milo Ventimiglia from showing Hayden Panettiere his affection.

The Heroes hottie has bought his rumored girlfriend a pricey new ring, the new issue of In Touch Weekly is reporting.

Not just any ring, sweetie.

A ring from Tiffany & Co.!

According to an insider, Milo, 30, gave Hayden an 18-karat yellow-gold ring - worth $1,950 - from the famed jewelers as a belated birthday present, since she turned 18 in late August.

The ring, called Somerset Heart, features a woven band and a heart, and according to the insider, is inscribed, “Sweet like Hayden.”

Hayden Panettiere is Camera Ready

Who’s the new paparazzo in town? Hayden Panettiere!

The Heroes hottie was seen picking out a new SLR camera at Samy’s Camera Shop in Los Angeles on Sunday. Hayden, 18, showed of a bit of cellulite as she leaned over the store counter.

Her father, Skip Panettiere, a fire department lieutenant, was there to help his daughter pick out her new purchase. Skip wore a t-shirt promoting the daily TV entertainment news show Entertainment Tonight. Hmm!!!!!

Ms. Panettiere is now the proud owner of a brand spankin’ new 10MP Nikon D80 (about $1,300 with the lens).

Hayden Panettiere Turns to Designing

'Heroes' star Hayden Panettiere is taking a break from her superhuman duties to design handbags. 18-year-old Panettiere is the latest celebrity to jump on the handbag wagon, for she has already designed a handbag fashion company Dooney & Bourke.

She says,"I wanted to do something people haven't seen from Dooney & Burke before, so my bag is red patent leather."

I usually steer clear of Dooney & Burke because it reminds me of my Grandmothers handbags but I'm a sucker for anything red patent leather so Hayden might make a pretty penny off of me. The bag will be ready in time for the holidays and will retail at $500.00

A Pair of Heroes: Hayden Panettiere & Kristen Bell

With roles on two hot television shows this fall, Kristen Bell is giving Lauren Conrad a run for her adorable, blonde money. Plus, she can actually act!

Below, Kristen Bell joins her Heroes co-star, Hayden Panettiere - quite the pair of cuties, we’d say - at a Christian Louboutin cocktail party hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue & Style.com at Hollywood’s S Bar on Wednesday.

Bell, the former star of Veronica Mars, has signed on for a 13-episode story arc on Heroes, and is reportedly being considered as a full-time cast member after that.

She also serves as the mysterious narrator on The CW’s Gossip Girl - Kristen Bell voices the mysterious girl who blogs high school gossip. It’s actually a pretty good show, for those of you who haven’t checked it out.

As for Bell’s counterpart in the picture above, she’s everywhere these days - and the 18-year-old starlet with beauty and brains is quite the fashion connoisseur.

“These were my birthday gift,” Hayden Panettiere said of the black peep-toe shoes she wore in honor of designer Christian Louboutin. “I’m addicted!”

Best Buddies

Kristen Bell and Hayden Panettiere have become fast friends since Kristen joined the Heroes cast. The two attended a Christian Louboutin cocktail party hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue & Style.com last night at S Bar in L.A. Is Kristen seriously shorter than Hayden? Is that possible?

Height-Challenged Hayden Challenged on Her Height

"Heroes" hottie Hayden Panettiere was at the Chateau Marmont last night, when our photog decided to greet her with the line, "What's going on, shorty?" How dare he?!

Hayden laughed it off, but being that she literally is short, she countered with, "Did you just call me shorty? You don't have to rub it in."

If Hayden were up on her urban slang, she'd know he just meant it as "an affectionate term for a girlfriend or attractive female" -- and there's nothing wrong with that, shorty!
